Single-family Residential Service
All single-family residences and duplexes (two units) will be provided with the following services on your scheduled pickup day:
- Recyclable materials (64-gallon green cart)
- Green waste (96-gallon grey cart)
- Household trash (brown cart)
Place all carts at curbside by 6:00 am on your scheduled collection day. Lids must be closed, and the lid opening must face towards the street. Carts should be placed side-by-side at least 2 feet apart and 3 feet away from parked cars or objects. As a courtesy to your neighbor, promptly remove carts after service.
Maximum Weight Limits
96-gallon carts: 250 lbs.
To avoid exceeding the weight limitation of the cart, or causing possible damage to the cart or collection vehicle, do not place rocks, concrete, bricks or dirt inside carts. Any items placed within the cart must fall out easily when the cart is being serviced. Please do not overfill or tightly pack items into the cart.
If the cart exceeds the weight limitation, the driver will attempt service and will notify the resident of the problem by leaving a Non-Collection Notice attached to the cart. However, if we are unable to empty the cart, the cart will be tagged and marked as “overweight.” It will then be the responsibility of the resident to make the correction and contact Waste Management for service.
Resident Responsibility for Cart
Each resident is responsible for the proper care and security of the trash and recycling carts. Customers will be charged to replace carts that are damaged or destroyed other than through normal usage. Please contact Customer Service for cart replacements.
Prohibited Waste
Do NOT place the following materials in your carts:
- Hazardous Waste (products labeled toxic, poison, corrosive, flammable, or irritant)
- Paint
- Oil
- Automotive batteries
- Tires
- Hot ashes
- CRTs
- Infectious waste (including used needles)
- Dead animals (weighing more than 10 lbs.)
If these materials are found in the cart, it will be tagged with a Non-Collection Notice and will not be serviced. It will then be the responsibility of the resident to make the correction and contact WM for service.
Holiday Schedule
Our office will be closed for business on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Collection Service holidays are Thanksgiving and Christmas. If the holiday falls on a weekday, services will be delayed by one day for that week only. Your regular collection schedule will resume the following week. There will not be any interruption in service if the holiday is on Saturday or Sunday.
For example: If the holiday falls on Thursday then Thursday’s collection services will be provided on Friday and Friday’s collection services will be provided on Saturday, and so forth.
Each household is provided with a 64-gallon green recycling cart for recyclable materials. There is no need to sort cans, bottles or paper; they all go in the same cart.
